Accessibility Statement

What we are aiming for

This website has been built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard used across the UK public sector and the usual benchmark for a commercial site.

What we have done

• Colour contrast. Every text and background combination used on the site was calculated rather than eyeballed, and meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio required for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface components. Our accent colour is deliberately used only where it passes.
• Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu and form field can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. The navigation dropdowns open on focus, respond to Escape, and do not trap you.
• Visible focus. Whatever you are on has a clear outline. We have not removed focus styling anywhere.
• Skip to content. The first thing a keyboard user reaches is a link that jumps past the navigation.
• Headings. Pages use one main heading and a proper hierarchy underneath, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
• Images. Photographs carry descriptive alternative text explaining what the picture shows, rather than a filename or a keyword.
• Forms. Every field has a real label attached to it. Errors are announced and never clear what you have already typed.
• Motion. Animations are subtle and none of them flash. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects it and shows everything in its final position immediately. Content is never hidden behind an animation, so nothing disappears if scripts fail.
• Zoom and reflow. The site works at 200% zoom and on a narrow screen without horizontal scrolling.
• Third party content. Google reviews and Instagram posts load only when you choose to load them, so nothing loads unexpectedly.

Known limitations

Being honest about what is not perfect is more useful than claiming everything is:

• Third party embeds. Where you choose to load the Google reviews panel, the accessibility of that content is Google’s rather than ours, and we cannot correct it.
• The map on our contact page. An interactive map is difficult to use without sight. The same information, our address and the area we cover, is given in text immediately beside it, so nothing is available only through the map.
• PDF documents. Where we link to a document produced by a third party, such as a manufacturer’s datasheet, we cannot guarantee it has been made accessible.
• Older content. As we add pages, an occasional image may reach the site with alternative text that is thinner than it should be. We check, but we would rather you told us than assumed we knew.

Tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days. If the fix is quick we will simply do it, and in the meantime we will give you the information you were after by phone or email.

Enforcement

The Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not happy with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can advise you, on 0808 800 0082.

How this was tested

The site was checked against WCAG 2.1 level AA using a combination of automated scanning and manual testing, including keyboard only navigation, a real mobile viewport, and calculated contrast ratios for every colour pairing in the design system. Testing is repeated when we make significant changes.

This statement is a starting point and should be reviewed by your own legal adviser before you rely on it.
